Where It All Started

Everyone, this is my first blog post ever…and I mean ever. I know this might sound shocking for many of you since now a days everyone has a blog, but I tend to be old school. So, now that I am years behind everyone, I decided to try it out.

This blog serves as a space where I will share all of my thoughts and my experiences with everything related to event planning, any new trends, decor, tips, etc. and for you to ask or tell me your stories!

It all started two years ago around the first weeks of March. My husband’s birthday was coming up in a couple of weeks, and I thought I wanted to throw him a surprise birthday party. Let’s just say that I planned this the wrong way, partly because I was super late with invitations, and also because I didn’t have much food and drinks at the party. The other reason it didn’t work out was that my husband wanted to invite his friends, and he started to do some planning on his own. Long story short, it was a disaster. If I am not mistaken, one friend showed up and the other three people there were our roommates back in the day (yes, we are a very modern couple; we live by ourselves now 😀 ). Anyways, the party did not turn out the way I thought it would, and it was not what he deserved since he always plans amazing trips for my birthdays.

Despite my failure to throw a decent surprise birthday party, I learned a thing or two. #1 ALWAYS send invitations at least a couple of months in advance. My invitations were really just a text message to our closest friends,  but in any case, guests have a life and plans too, so they should be invited ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.

#2 The following year, I did so much better and it was a spectacular surprise birthday party! My secret here was that I had sent the invitations ahead of time and followed up. Also, I made sure to tell him that I was planning on taking him out to dinner to one of our favorite restaurants, and so he didn’t bother planning something for his own birthday.

The story continues, but who wants to read a “book” in one post?

Hope you enjoyed it and until next time!

With love,
Natalie
